He was the leader in the hunt and capture of Saddam Hussein and he has a phenominal presentation and story that you won't want to miss. We had a great turnout for our Thanksgiving meal here at the mission. We fed over 150 people that were in need of a hot meal. We will post some pictures from the meal as soon as we sort through them and get them downloaded.

Dont forget about our upcoming Christmas meal. Tell everyone that you know that needs a hot meal, or has no one to spend Christmas with, to come to the mission on December 18th at 11:30am for a good meal.

Here are just a few photos from our annual fundraising banquet we had in October at the National Agents Alliance building. The Lord was glorified and we have raised over $21,000 from the banquet. We had about 300 people in attendance. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Richard Ganz, and he did a phenominal job. We still have needs that need to be met, so keep the minstries of Piedmont Rescue Mission in your prayers!

Christopher & Banks at Alamance Crossing in Burlington will be holding a charity event the week of October 20. Anyone who brings in a donation for Alamance Pregnancy Services that week will get a discount!!!! Items you can bring are diapers, wipes, baby clothes, and bassinettes, which we are in DESPERATE NEED of.

FYI Alamance County Right to Life is having their eleventh annual Life Chain to be held in Burlington. The event will be Sunday, October 3rd from 2:30 to 3:30pm. Signs will be distributed at theses two places: near the corner of Country Club and Church Streets, and in the 1200 block of S. Church Street. Whether it is a man seeking shelter, a young pregnant girl who needs guidance and help, a troubled teen at Grace Haven, or a church in Kenya that needs help, your support makes all of these ministries possible.

January Community Meal

We had a great turnout at our January Community Meal. We had this as our Christmas MEal since the first meal was affected by the weather.

We fed over 150 people and WFMY NEWS 2's weekend anchor Tracy McCain came out and took some fotage that was featured on the news.

We also handed out new toys to the needy children who attended. A big thank you to all who donated toys, or their time so we could minister to the community!

Our 2009 Community Thanksgiving Meal was a great success! We fed about 225-250 people who were in need of a hot meal, and we shared the gospel with them during our service! Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make this event possible, and thanks to our cooks who prepared the meal. Our executive director even gave an interview to WFMY Channel 2, who was there to film some footage of the meal. We are trying to secure that footage, and then I will post it on our website at http://www.piedmontrescuemission.org/ .

Our annual Greater Vision Banquet was a wonderful time of fellowship and we hope all that attended had a great time. We thank all of those who donated to the ministries of Piedmont Rescue Mission. We could not continue the work the Lord has called us to do without your faithful support. We also would like to thank all of our Table sponsors who allowed us to provide this meal at no cost to our guests. I will post a complete list of them in the next post.

Our keynote speaker was Rob Mitchell, author of the book "Castaway Kid", which tells of his life as an orphan and how a relationship with God changed his life. We raised some much needed funds, but are still struggling to keep all of the minstries of Piedmont Rescue Mission funded. It's that time of year again! Our annual Greater Vision Banquet fundraiser will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The banquet will be held at Di Georgio's Catering Event Center on South Church St. (HWY 70) in Burlington.
Invitations have been mailed and you must RSVP by returning the card to us or calling us at 336-229-6995 to let us know if you are attending. We have LIMITED SEATING for 250 people.

Our speaker this year will be Rob Mitchell. Rob is one of the country's top financial advisors and he is author of the book "Castaway Kid." Rob will be sharing his testimony with us. Don't miss it!

Ist Annual Mini Golf Tournament

We had our first annual mini golf tornament a few weeks ago, and we had a great turnout for our first year! We had about 40 players, and we had free carnival games for all of the players to enjoy. 2008 Community Thanksgiving Meal

Our 2008 Community Thanksgiving Meal was a success. The ministries of Piedmont Rescue Mission were able to feed over 100 people that had no place to go or were homeless. Thanks so much to all of our volunteers that helped to serve food, drink, and desserts, or if you greeted and talked with people. We could not have done it without you!

We would also like to thank Georgio Harvalias of Di'Georgios Catering for donating all of our Thanksgiving meal food! His information is listed in the previous post.

Also a big thanks to Loaves & Fishes Food ministry and Allied Churches for donating their leftover food to our mission.

Invitations have been mailed to our mailing list for our 2008 Greater Vision Banquet. We ask that you reply with the enclosed RSVP card and include the number of people in your party. Please do this ASAP.
WE ONLY HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF SEATING SPACE AND IT WILL FILL UP QUICKLY.
If you are sponsoring a table, please notify on the sponsor card if you are coming to the banquet so we can make sure you have seating.
We are still in need of table sponsors. The cost is $250 and your name, group's name, or busniness name will be listed on the table and in our next newsletter. If you can only sponsor a portion of a table, we will combine your gift with other sponsors for that table who have also given a portion of the $250.

Greater VisionBanquet 2008!

We are excited about our upcoming Greater Vision Banquet. This is an annual banquet we do as a fundraiser for the ministry of Piedmont Rescue Mission. We provide a meal and a brief overview of how you can help the various ministries. Our keynote speaker this year is Rev. Neal Wilcox, founder and director emeritus of the Winston Salem Rescue Mission. Rev. Wilcox was Executive Director of the Winston Salem Rescue Mission for approximatley 33 years.

Every year, in order to provide the meal at no cost to our invited guests, we ask local businesses and individuals to sponsor a table which will pay for the meals at that table. The cost to sponsor a table of 10 will be $250. As a result, your name or your business name will be listed at the table, on our program and presentation and you will be listed in our PRM newsletter which goes out to about 2700 people. Please consider helping us as we try to spread the word about the work we are doing here in Burlington, and in Siler City, and even in East Africa.

Piedmont Rescue Mission, Inc. serves Alamance county and the surrounding areas by helping needy individuals and their families.The goal of Piedmont Rescue Mission is to lead those who will come to Christ because, through Him, true change takes place. We provide a "home" for men in need of food, clothing, shelter, and guidance to become responsible, self-disciplined, and self-supporting citizens.
After a 5:30 a.m. wake-up and 6:00 a.m. breakfast, group devotions and prayer are held each morning at 6:15 a.m. Following devotions, residents rotate clean-up jobs around the Mission. Next, residents who are new to the ministry participate in a work program at the mission or at our thrift store, the Good Samaritan.

Those residents who have been at the Mission for more than 30 days must seek full-time employment and begin to pay $55 a week toward his stay at the Mission.
The Mission provides chapel services which are held Monday and Friday evenings. The residents are required to attend Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday night at designated churches.
As long as guidelines are being met, residents may live at the mission for as long as it takes to be ready to live on their own. It takes time for "old" bad habits to be replaced with "new" good habits.

Alamance Pregnancy Services was established many years ago as Precious Child Family Services. It completely changed hands and became a part of Piedmont Rescue Mission, Inc. in January of 1999.APS provides a balanced message of hope and help to young women with unplanned pregnancies. We provide each young woman with available options and offer confidential counseling and support.
We are here to offer:
Free pregnancy tests, Confidential counseling, Information on STDs, Abortion alternatives, Post-abortion counseling, Adoption options, Abstinence education, Baby clothes and furniture, Formula, diapers, bottles, etc.Doula and parenting classes, Bible studies.

Good Samaritan Super Thrift - www.piedmontrescuemission.org/GSST.htm

The Good Samaritan Super Thrift accepts donations of good, usable items (i.e. furniture, clothing, appliances and household goods. In addition to supplying the physical needs in the community, the Good Samaritan provides an environment in which Mission residents complete a 30 day vocational training program. This program provides residents wiht skills that are transferable to their future workplace.
The GSST was founded in 1998 to provide residents of the Alamance Rescue Mission with a controlled, drug-free environment to learn good work habits and submission to employer authority. By providing an opportunity to rotate jobs, they are able to learn where their work talents and interests lie.
